Whether she realizes it or not, Batgirl has been training her entire career for what she’s about to encounter. She has taken on a menagerie of Gotham’s worst, honing her skills against them night after night in the neon glow of darkened streets. Even when the chips were down for our heroine, the determination and grit of Barbara Gordon has been undeniable.
But when she gets caught searching Black Mask’s sea-side mansion for a critical data drive, Batgirl finds herself wholly unprepared for the villain’s infamous ferocity. Unlike the other brigands she has faced over the past few months, Black Mask doesn’t pull punches or allow for quick-witted escapes. He tears into her with ruthless abandon. Using anything he can find, the foul criminal beats Batgirl senseless again and again.
She can’t rely on Black Mask’s mercy to save her; he holds that particular virtue in short supply. Luckily for her, though, even a criminal of his violent ilk knows better than to kill the daughter of a tough-as-nails police Commissioner. Hopefully, he’ll keep that in mind and it will stop him from taking their play-date too far.
